Managing my Safety & Security Event for Learning Disability Week 2026

On Friday 19th June, members explored Managing my Safety & Security, a topic chosen last year by members of Pro-Active Community.

👏🏼Many thanks to A1 Fire Protection and Growing Health Together for their kind sponsorship to help towards costs, and to East Surrey College for supporting this event by kindly providing an accessible venue.

🤝Bringing together agencies and organisations from across Surrey with Emma Jane Candice Waterman and Helen Guest leading Pro-Active Community members in welcoming Chief Inspector Nolan Heather from Surrey Police, Surrey Fire and Rescue Service Buckinghamshire & Surrey Trading Standards Surrey Coalition of Disabled People Alix Lewer Include.org Amanda Aldridge Citizens Advice Surrey Choices Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development Beyond Words Emily Hollins Alice Murray and all the guests supporting these to present and create the marketplace.

🎉Too many others to thank but must mention the wonderful Sue Turner-Brown at East Surrey College for her superb support and help with hosting our event, and for the year long planning all coming together so smoothly in the final months.

💙Learning Disability Week 2026 has provided a reflective opportunity to us all to check in and review our inclusive values - ‘do you see me?’
