On Thursday 7th April I went to surrey heartlands co designing event in Epsom racecourses

When I arrived at the racecourse there was 80 people in a room and 40 people online too

The Pro-Active Community is delighted to have been awarded a grant of £5,000 from the Community Foundation for Surrey.

Members of the Pro-Active Community (PAC) came together for their Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 29th September 2021.

The Pro-Active Community and The Surrey Peoples’ Group have been invited to work with the Q Project to make Annual Health Checks more accessible.

Leanne Yeo, Pro-Active Community committee member, has been working to update the quality checker guidance and training for Active Prospects.

A Peer Leader is a person with lived experience of having a disability who is committed to working collaboratively with others to shape and influence how health and social care is delivered.

On 9th March the PAC took part in the Learning Disability England conference. It was the first virtual conference they have had and was attended by hundreds of people via Zoom.

Training and perseverance have paid off as GPs now offer special quieter time slots and areas for those that need it.

The lock downs meant it was not possible to see friends and family as much as before and attend our usual activities. This meant we had to think of new ways to support each other.

On the 9th July, The Pro-Active Community held another successful Surrey People’s Meeting. The group usually holds quarterly meetings in person at a venue in Ashtead, but due to the current social distancing measures in place, the group decided to go virtual and used technology to connect!

On Thursday 7th May the Pro-Active Community met via Zoom for the first time! The meetings are usually held every two weeks at Active Prospects’ head office.
