Together again

Pro-Active Co-Chair Michael joined Elizabeth and Helen at University of Surrey to take centre stage with Scott Watkin BEM while Anna Cox facilitated the fourth year of training to second year undergraduate student midwives.

🎉That’s over 200 students who have now completed Learning Disability awareness training, a co-produced format and delivery from the start as part of the incredible Together Project.

Michael shared some lived experience of how parents with learning disability are not given the same support or necessary help to be parents, it is assumed they can’t do what is needed, rather than discovering what help needs to be provided.

Working together with the other people on this project over the past 4 years has proved what a difference sharing real life stories makes to those coming into the workforce, they can hear, see and feel the challenges faced and be the change that is needed to ensure no parents with learning disability experience the inequity these trainers have.
