Roadshow begins!

What an uplifting meeting for the first PAC Roadshow of 2024!

Thank you so much to Julie Burgess-Wright from SAI Infinity Care for taking the time today to talk to Pro-Active Community interim Chair, Matthew.

Sometimes it’s easy to be so involved in something you forget how incredible all the achievements are.

It’s when you are explaining to someone who knows nothing about what you do, stand for or have successfully driven as a charity that you have a chance to go - wow!!

Matthew Leadbeater shared his passion for leading Pro-Active Community members with the current Chair Leanne Yeo, in creating some very important changes in services or provisions for adults with learning disability, by coming together with other supported people across the sector.

*Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) Co-production Impact tool
* The Disability Taxi Charter
* Presenting to Learning Disability England members
* MOTHS DJs events and interviews on Ridge Radio
* SASH strategy survey and Hospital signage review at East Surrey Hospital with Charlotte Rowbotham
* Ready, Steady, Cook challenge with Include.org with Cllr Humphries as guest of honour
* Co-producing 2 new titles with Beyond Words Books
* Working with Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development to extend the Multiply Course for adults with additional or adapted educational needs
* Co-producing policies and advising on easy read resources for Active Prospects UK
* Quality Checking for support providers
* Supporting the co-production and delivery of awareness training to Student Midwives at University of Surrey with Anna Cox

To name a few! It truly has been quite a year for this incredible body of members, celebrating its 4th year as a charity in October.

Members are vocal about their frustrations with health inequity, lack of funding for necessary changes or upgrades in transport requirements, and fear of the unknown. Supporting upskilling and bringing together guest speakers on chosen topics, is empowering and critical in making independence for them and their peers a reality.

Looking forward to more aligned working together and to welcoming new members from SAI Infinity, exciting times ahead!
